MIND YOUR MANNERS (for puppies and dogs over 16 weeks of age)
We know that the #1 reason dogs under 3yrs of age are relinquished or euthanized is due to behavior problems. Mind Your Manners! is just the class you need to help create that well mannered, loveable family pet. Mind Your Manners! focuses on teaching you how to effectively communicate with your dog, management skills, how to curb common behavior problems, and problem solving skills for how to solve issues should they arise. We use clicker-training in this positive-reinforcement and reward based class to teach your dog many basic foundation skills. We will work on attention training, sit, down, stay, targeting, loose leash walking, polite greetings, coming when called, socialization, tricks, games, and much more. The smallest class size around (maximum of 3 dogs) to assure you individualized attention and less distraction for your dog. You will be sure to learn a lot and have a lot of fun in this 6 week program!

Do I need to have a special collar or leash for my dog for class?
We prohibit the use of choke or prong collars. A traditional flat buckle collar or martingale collar is required for class. Gentle Leaders are also welcome in class (especially for service dogs in training). We also prohibit the use of retractable and chain leashes in class. A 6 foot nylon or leather leash is perfect!
I don't know anything about clicker training, will I be lost in class?
Clicker training is one of the best ways to teach your dog new behaviors. Week 1 is an orientation and we will go over the specifics of clicker training. If interested, you can also go to www.clickertraining.com to learn more.
What if my dog is too distracted with the other dogs in class?
We use a great deal of management in class to set your dog up for the ultimate success. We also have a great set-up to be able to have dogs in completely different areas while they are working if needed. However, there is occasionally a dog that has lacked previous exposure to other dogs and cannot focus. In this case, we would most likely do a few private lessons and then attempt to re-join the class at a later week (if your dog is ready).
Class Fee: $139.00/6 weeks
